File conversion

Posted by The Oracle on September 4, 2007

I have spent many annoying times trying to open documents and wanting to download files on-line only to find windows does not support the effort.  Linux based and open source software has many useful programs that are not compatible with windows but I have found one solution to my problem. Zamzar. With this site file conversion and on-line video download is possible and easy. Just visit the site and see for yourself. If you have any good on-line suggestions let me know.

UBUNTU It can’t hurt !

Posted by The Oracle on June 27, 2007

It seems that some folk are still stuck in the rut of condeming Ubuntu and generaly Linux op systems believing Microsoft can only be the true computer system.

Well despite attempts at finding fault with Ubuntu, remember that there is a wealth of Linux knowledge out there for anyone to tap into for free and if a problem should show its self you only need ask and answers will be given or the problem solved from the inside. Anyhow, if you don’t try you’ll never know. Try a split drive with Ubuntu on half of it, the experience may surprise you.

Linux and their community

Posted by The Oracle on June 17, 2007

Despite the fact that Linux based systems are getting world wide use it seems the worlds public still don’t get it. Micrsoft systems still get easily affected by most of the annoying little bugs writen by anoying big bugs and in recent weeks my XP system was not left out. This time it was the Spylock 4.1 false addware. This just keeps telling you that you need to purchase Spylock spyware to remove it. Don’t be drawn in by this.

Fortunatly I frequent the Sussex Linux User Group (your area will have one) and this proved again how the Linux community can help out (for free) even with MS systems. Should you get this problem, download SpyHunter free scanner, search your system then remove each point manually.

As I have Ubuntu (Linux) on my laptop my PC will be next to convert allowing me to avoid those anoying little bugs but still giving me access to that large community of Linux users for any help I may need in the future.

Another London Mosque!

Posted by The Oracle on March 25, 2007

So the plan is for the mosque to be so big that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will it see it as the biggest landmark in London, bigger than St Paul’s, Westminster Abbey or Wembley Stadium.

Every one is entitled to their belief but with the growth of Muslim buildings and their ridiculous size I wonder how long it will be before the mistrust in the Muslim faith by the Christian community becomes a more serious local issue in more places than the government will like or admit to.

Appeasing a local religious group is only going to add to alienating the rest of the community.

I thought the official line was to aim for multi-cultural harmony and while I’m sure this is an admirable if not realistic goal the increase in Mosque buildings will only go towards aggravating an already irritating religious sore.

Spiderman 3

Posted by The Oracle on March 24, 2007

Many people  cringe at the thought of super hero films and Critics have said Spiderman is a weak carachter but I’m sure most men who have the heart of a boy will find the latest offering quite hard to resist.

The mild mannered boy given the gift of, well, a spider, will surley make the boys have ideas and wishes like his and the girls will have desires only he could fullfill.

May the 4th should give all with  an imagination something to think about.

Linux, take the plunge.

Posted by The Oracle on February 9, 2007

It will no doubt take some time for the hardened Windows user to consider a change to freedom in the computer world but I’m sure that day will come.

I am going to make the move gently, by setting up a duel hard drive. one still running XP for now with the other using UBUNTU the user friendly Linux Op system. That way I canget accustomed to Linux befor I take the big plunge.
